OPET Network of Organisations for the Promotion of Energy Technology

The OPET network (Network of Organisations for the Promotion of Energy Technology) was set up to disseminate results from the EU's non-nuclear JOULE (for research and development) and THERMIE (for demonstration) programmes. The OPET network was joined by 41 organisations across the EU, 4 of them from Germany. The tasks included ensuring the effective use of energy technologies available for the market and promoting the introduction and use of new energy technologies throughout Europe.

BEO acted as project management agency for Biology, Energy, Environment of the Federal Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Technology (BMBF) at Forschungszentrum Jülich GmbH and OPET member and initiated, among other things, a seminar which was integrated into the already existing training programme of the Forschungszentrum Jülich (see publication link).
