Summary
In the previous project, the requirements were defined for the production of collapsible containers. This development of a twin sheet process technique is a technical innovation, since a filling aid and a plastic valve can be incorporated in the weld seams of the thin plastic plates during the forming process.
The aim of this particular project was to analyse the market potential and to test the production and analysis of collapsible containers under real production conditions.
Results:
- The market analysis confirmed the growing need for collapsible containers and the high level of interest in the industry.
- In view of the results of market and product analysis, product development of the flexible container was expedited and the tool requirements realised on the basis of the needs of the technical forming process. For this purpose, a sample formed component was first made into a model tool, so that the complex twin sheet tool could then be developed.
- The flexible and collapsible container product was subjected to extensive testing under practical conditions. Specific operational demands were also simulated (mechanical load and dynamic stress loads).
- On commencement of the market launch of the container system, a high level of acceptance for the developed product was demonstrated.
