Summary
The project contributed to the technical optimisation and thus to complete suitability for everyday use of fuel cell vehicles. In addition, the project should lead to further possible applications of fuel cell vehicles.
Procedure:
- A number of companies and taxi companies in Hamburg and Munich were contacted and 33 offers for a leasing contract were prepared with reference to the funding. 13 companies could be convinced to use a fuel cell vehicle, but none of them was a taxi enterprise. A survey was conducted among these taxi operators.
- The necessary refuelling and service infrastructure and the training of employees and testers was provided.
- With the agreement of the users, anonymised data loggers were installed in the vehicles in order to carry out an evaluation of their suitability for everyday use. At the same time, the involved enterprises were asked to equip reference vehicles with conventional drive technologies with data loggers.
The results:
- The taxi operators' reasons for deciding against a fuel cell vehicle were the high price despite subsidies and the preference for a five-seater, as the vehicle on offer was only registered for 4 persons.
- At the end of the project, the CleverShuttle transport service was won over for the use of fuel cell cars.
