Halomic 6: The use of halophilic micro-organisms for treating highly contaminated saline waste water and investigating adapted, pollutant-digesting microbial cultures immobilised through sol-gel fixing

Several of the microbial strains selected are capable of breaking down pollutants such as methanol, glycol and glycol ether in saline process waste water. However, this requires longer periods of time. The use of sol-gel technology can also be easily transferred to other areas of waste water technology.
