Improvement of the decontamination performance of SBR sewage treatment plants by the procedural combination of activated sludge biology with turbulent biofilm biology

Through the insertion of growth carriers of large surface area into SBR reactors, the achievable biomass concentration can be increased, thereby allowing the more effective use of the tank volume. By this method, the more extensive biological elimination of phosphorous and nitrogen can be achieved, even in small plants.
